When you adopt a rescue dog you won't change the world but you will change the world for the dog you adopt.
When you have been matched with your dog we are happy to reserve him or her. However, we can now only reserve a dog for 2 weeks.
We want to help as many dogs as possible and if the kennels are full of dogs who already have their home, it blocks the space for all the lovely deserving dogs who are waiting to join us. Consequently, when prospective forever people visit there aren't any dogs for them to be matched with. We appreciate your support and understanding - it helps us help as many dogs as possible.

Farney
Greyhound - Male - 2 years (10 Jun 2023)
This lad is everything you could want in a dog – calm, handsome, and absolutely charming. He keeps his kennel clean and is always well mannered. He walks beautifully on his lead, making him a joy to take on strolls.
Quiet and affectionate, he’s a loving companion who enjoys gentle cuddles and being close to his people. He’s well-behaved, easygoing, and has a heart as big as his appetite – this lad loves his food!

Dottie
Greyhound - Female - 2 years (08 July 2023)
Dottie is a gentle, affectionate 2-year-old greyhound with the softest soul and the sweetest eyes. She may be small in size, but her heart is huge.
Unlike many greyhounds, Dottie has never raced and she's still learning about the world—but she’s taking everything in stride. She’s curious, calm, and eager to find a quiet, loving home where she can settle in and live her best life.
She loves walks, soft beds, and tasty food and treats. She enjoys her time in the exercise yard and would like her own garden. Dottie has settled in well at the Greyhound Rescue North East kennels and is doing great, she is clean and well mannered – attributes that will help her settle in to a home—she’s learning routines quickly and is an excellent companion.

Stella
Greyhound - Female - 3 years (April 2022)
Stella is a sweet and elegant Greyhound with a calm, laid-back nature. Stella is very well behaved on her lead making and she enjoys leisurely walks, then she likes to come home to a peaceful environment to lounge around and take nap. She’s polite around other dogs and makes an excellent companion for someone who appreciates a quiet, loyal friend. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, her gentle, affectionate side shines through. She’s not nervous—just likes to take her time deciding who’s worthy of her trust, will that be you?

Greyhound - Female - 3 years (01 June 2022)
Lilly is a small and gentle Greyhound who loves soft beds, relaxed walks, and peaceful naps. She’s affectionate without being demanding, and very well behaved. Lilly walks well on her lead and loves being outdoors. Her calm nature makes her a joy to be around, and she’s happiest simply being near her people. Lilly would love a home where she can be part of the family. She's an easygoing companion who’s ready to bring happiness to the person who is luck enough to adopt her.

Jonny

Jonny is on the search for his forever home with someone who is ready to have a friend for life.
Jonny is an affectionate boy who has so much love to give. Jonny would like a home with a garden because he loves playing outside and after his initial zooming around he likes to relax and be made a fuss of. One of Jonny’s favourite things is tasty treats, taking them gently from your hand. He is a wonderful boy who just needs a chance to be loved and appreciated.

Meet Timmy, he is a loving, friendly boy who has retired from racing hoping to spend the rest of his life enjoying good food and lots of cuddles. Timmy is calm, affectionate, and polite, he walks well on his lead and is clean in his kennel. He loves people and he is already showing how well suited he is to life as a pet. What is Timmy looking for in a home? Good food, a comfy spot to take a nap, secure outside space and most importantly someone to spend time with him.

Opera
Greyhound - Female - 2 years (01 Oct 2022)
Opera is a small, happy, friendly and affectionate greyhound. She is always ready to greet you with a tail wag and a nuzzle. She enjoys companionship and spending time with her person/people. Opera walks well on her lead and is calm and confident when out and about. She’s also clean in her kennel and has a calm laid back approach to life, making her a joy to have around. Whether you’re out for a stroll or curled up for a quiet evening, Opera will be happy to be right by your side.

Oreo

Oreo thought he was about to be moving onto his forever homed but unfortunatley it didn't happen. That mean someone else is going to be really lucky and get to have Oreo in their life.
Oreo is gentle sweet boy who loves a cuddle and lots of fuss from his people. His other favourite things are his food and nice walk. After a walk, Oreo likes to cuddle up in a comfy spot and relax for the rest of the day. He is going to love taking his spot on the sofa in his new forever home. Oreo doesn't ask for much out of life but has so much love to give, all he needs is a chance. Will you be that special person who gives Oreo his chance to be your dog?

Jim is a lovable, laid-back greyhound who’s all about the simple joys in life: a soft bed, a good cuddle, and mealtime! Greyhound - Male - 3 years (13 July 2022)
Andrew is a sweetheart, he is calm and affectionate and enjoys making new friends and getting attention. He walks well on his lead when he’s out and about, and enjoys a zoomie in the exercise yard, so Andrew would really like his own garden. Food is a big deal to Andrew, meal times are always an exciting time and treats are very gratefully received. Andrew enjoys life and would really like to have his own person to enjoy life with.

Kardi - Homed
Greyhound - Female - 4 years (01 June 2021)
Kardi is a loving happy girl who enjoys being fussed over and being the centre of attention. She loves going for walks and is perfect on her lead. Kardi gets excited at meal times, she loves food and treats. Although she only knows kennel life she is very adaptable so will settle in quickly when she gets to be a house dog… all she needs is a chance.

Ella is a lovely, friendly girl with a gentle soul and a sunny personality. She's excellent on the lead, making walks a pleasure. She takes everything in her stride with calm confidence.
Ella is friendly and bright and loves meeting people, she greets the world with a wagging tail and a warm heart. Whether she's out exploring or lounging at home, she's always a joy to be around.

Gucci - Homed
Greyhound - Female - almost 3 years (02 August 2022)
Gucci has retired from the track is now enjoying life at Greyhound Rescue North East. Gucci is calm and laid back, gentle and affectionate. She enjoys a brisk walk and some zoomies in the exercise yard, Gucci would appreciate her own secure garden so she can continue to enjoy some free time outdoors. Gucci is also a big fan of meal times and treats. When she does make it her own sofa she is going to love chilling out with her person, until then she is just waiting here for her person to find her.

Morti - Homed
Greyhound - Male - 2 years (21 July 2023)
Update on Morti
Since Morti was added to the website his homing requirements have changed and he no longer needs an experienced handler because he is absolutely perfect on his lead. He has been such a quick learner, he is a really a bright intelligent lads and is eager to please so he learns everything quickly.
This gorgeous lad is young and full of life. He’s been with us a few weeks and is now ready to move on to his next adventure. We’ve been working with him on some basic training, he now knows how to walk on his lead and is generally well behaved but as he is still young and playful, Morti will need a strong or experienced handler who is happy to continue to reinforce his training. Morti is super friendly and excited to see everyone and would love his own person to have fun with and chill out with on the sofa at the end of a busy day, some treats would also be very gratefully received.
